Maintaining the STEB compound green

All schools, like St Edwards S S Bukuumi (STEB) in Kakumiro districts, have compounds. The compound is so paramount to the beauty of the school. This adds up to the architecture of the buildings.

STEB, unlike other schools, has such a wonderful, beautiful, and magnificent green compound, which makes it appealing and good for all its residents, that is the teachers, non teaching staff, and students, not forgetting the visitors.

The school administration, under the leadership of the the Head teacher, Bro. John Fisher Njogerere, ensures the compound is always clean. Each member of our community plays a role. The head teacher employs four gentlemen and one lady who make sure the grass and fences are always trimmed to fashion and desired sizes. They are responsible for ensuring that the school pathways are always clearly demarcated. This prevents trespassing. The school rules and regulations also give the school compound a protection.

After slashing, the grass is collected and dumped to the school plantations, to improve the fertility of the soil and also to control soil erosion. This is done by either the employed workers or students during the term.

The teachers and students ensure no one does the trespassing of any kind. These two also made sure that they put in place posters that remind everyone what to do and where to pass.

Tuve ku kaveera

The campaign of “TUVE KU KAVEERA” has played a very vital role in ensuring that there is no polythene paper on the school compound. These were also abolished from the school canteens, whoever wants to buy anything, will carry a container for packing his or her items.

This and more has helped the school to keep its compound clean and green.

You can also do this at your school premises. It all starts with where we stay
